What We're All About
Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts is a community of artists and scholar-artists who are passionate about the fine and perfoming arts, committed to diversity and inclusion, and determined to improve the lives of others through art.
To effectively train in order to develop God given creativity and innovation
Our vision is to be the leading Art and Design centre of excellence
The construction of Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA) was started on 9th
September 1991. This was the initiative of the development committe of the Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church – Buruburu.
On may 10th 1993, BIFA openned its doors to admit its first intake of 60 students
pursuing different disciplines of art. The institute was a dream seen for fulfilment by
the late Fr. Thomas Burke.
The institute commenced with a 2 year internal certificate programme and has now
adopted a 3 year diploma programme examined by Kenya National Examination
Council (KNEC). Since its commencement, the institute has trained thousands of young
artists and its our hope that BIFA will be able to reach many more talented artists to
enhance their God given skills.
