The construction of Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA) was started on 9th September 1991. This was the initiative of the development committe of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church – Buruburu.
On may 10th 1993, BIFA opened its doors to admit its first intake of 60 students pursuing different disciplines of art. The institute was a dream seen for fulfilment by the late Fr. Thomas Burke.
The institute commenced with a 2 year internal certificate programme and has now adopted a 3 year diploma programme examined by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). Since its commencement, the institute has trained thousands of young artists and its our hope that BIFA will be able to reach many more talented artists to enhance their God given skills.
We have two intakes per year; January Intake for Certificate courses and May Intake for both Certificate and Diploma
