Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts is a community of artists and scholar-artists who are passionate about the fine and perfoming arts, committed to diversity and inclusion, and determined to improve the lives of others through art.

1991

construction Started

The construction of Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA) was started on 9th September 1991. This was the initiative of the development committe of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church – Buruburu.

1993

First Intake

On may 10th 1993, BIFA opened its doors to admit its first intake of 60 students pursuing different disciplines of art. The institute was a dream seen for fulfilment by the late Fr. Thomas Burke.

1998

Initial courses

The institute commenced with a 2 year internal certificate programme and has now adopted a 3 year diploma programme examined by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). Since its commencement, the institute has trained thousands of young artists and its our hope that BIFA will be able to reach many more talented artists to enhance their God given skills.
